La Nuit des Chimères

Every summer in Le Mans, the Plantagenet city is illuminated; the cobbled streets and the facades of historical monuments turn into giant projection screens.

Recommendation: Travel into Le Mans late afternoon/early evening, explore the Plantagenet City in daylight, go for a meal in one of the restaurants and at dusk enjoy the light show.

Cost: Free

Parking:  Free parking available
Access: Within the Plantagenet City the cobbled streets and steep steps makes mobility difficult. The lights at Cathédrale St-Julien and on the Roman Wall can be viewed from the road/pavement.

Dates and Times: July and August at dusk. Tuesday to Saturday full show. Sunday and Monday limited show.

Sillé-le-Guillaume

Sillé-le-Guillaume with its green environment and rich heritage offers you a great day out.  The original fortified castle built during 11th century is made up of four towers with a house and imposing dungeon.   The castle was the residence of Baron de Sillé-le-Guillaume, one of the former baron's of Maine.   The children will love the Sillé-Plage site, also called "Coco beach" (man-made).  The lake is nestled in the heart of a 3500 ha forest which is great for cycling and walking.
